The Secret of Nimda

Watching Frontline this morning, I managed to catch a repeat airing of their report last week on the possibility of cyberwar/cyberterrorism against the United States. The report was shocking. Follow this link to go to PBS's site on the special, with lots of different information, including the episode itself, and a fair amount of supplementary material. Far be it from this blog to sound alarm bells unnecessarily or prematurely, but noting some of the problems of breachability in current systems, looking into this stuff really does cast into relief the dimensions of American-- and by extension, international-- vulnerability. Alas, CNN, FOX and MSNBC won't cover any of this stuff until the damage has been done and we're in full-scale panic. As much as some might object to Michael Moore, he is right about at least on one thing, I think, that the culture of fear and panic-induction is greater than the culture of reason, and we have already paid significant prices for this, but perhaps we've only seen the pre-interest payments.
