Wanton Wind, Wilful Wind, Womanish Wind, False Wind

I'd describe people these days as a prickly bunch but....

The real offense in all this verbal-niggling is that of Commissioner St. Joan:

Commissioner Jacqueline St. Joan said she felt Hoffman "put her foot in her mouth," with her remarks on the C-word.

"I see it as a combination of siege mentality and academic myopia about the real world," St. Joan said.
Now this is an appropriate circumstance for the use of the C-word. Academic myopia?!?!? Sheesh. Professor Hoffman was "asked if there was any possible polite context for the word," to which she offered a factual answer, an answer she had to give with her knowledge of her own field (emphasis added). Remember, she was under oath. So, basically, Commissioner St. Joan is dismissing a knowledge of history as academic myopia. This is just disgusting PC clucking. She should have said, "She answered factually. God forbid that in the justice system."

Idiots, idiots, idiots. I cannot believe this. How fundamentally immature-- to say nothing of absurd-- has all this become???
