The Court Of Shame

In a way, I guess this development is a good thing. It is, though, a shame that it comes not from genuine conviction in the ideals represented than in having been embarrassed into accepting the conventions thereto. There's a peculiar sense of justice to this-- even if it was arrived at by the wrong means. I dislike it intensely when the proverbial ends justify the means, but sometimes circumstance leaves little other option. As idealistic and our governments may be or pretend to be, none of should ever cling too comfortably to the notion that we're always sunshine and peanut butter. Genuine accountability only happens when we admit that we're accountable, too.
