But then you factor in the proportional balances of Red vs Blue by county, and the map looks like Van Gogh's Rohrshach test:
Eerie. The red areas end up looking frighteningly arterial. Check out the explanatory information-- and other maps, including these ones in greater detail-- here (or click on either of the maps), though I should add the caveat that you may want to pop a few hallucinogens before you do. I don't think Florida has ever quite so much resembled a tumescent wang as it does in these images. (Reminds me of a once-friend of mine, describing her first sexual experience in her teens: "It's so purple!!!" In--deed.)
ADDENDUM: Check out this jaw-dropping piece of drivel which features this wonderfully demonstrative bit:
* BUSH USA is predominantly white; devoutly Christian (mostly Protestant); openly, vigorously heterosexual; an open land of single-family homes and ranches; economically sound (except for a few farms), but not drunk with cyberworld business development, and mainly English-speaking, with a predilection for respectfully uttering "yes, ma'am" and "yes, sir."Ah, the analytical precision of another snarling inhabitant of Jesusland.
* GORE/KERRY USA is ethnically diverse; multi-religious, irreligious or nastily antireligious; more sexually liberated (if not in actual practice, certainly in attitude); awash with condo canyons and other high-end real estate bordered by sprawling, squalid public housing or neglected private homes, decidedly short of middle-class neighborhoods; both high tech and oddly primitive in its commerce; very artsy, and Babelesque, with abnormally loud speakers.
