Hopping Mad
The Not-So-Good Doctor absolutely had to provide a link to this article, despite his absolutely aghast response to the following:
''Individual beer consumption trends have shown a decline since the early 1980s, a clear sign of successful public policies and private sector initiatives encouraging moderation,'' reports the Beer Institute.
P'shaw! Doctor J would like to assure you all that he at least is resisting this decline with all of his renal might. Equilibrium, my people, equilibrium! ;-)
The Doctor would also like to call attention to this no-brainer of a statement, from that scion of wisdom, Dr. Robert Atkins:
``Alcohol consumption may also increase yeast-related symptoms, such as bloating, gas and cravings for sweets, and can therefore interfere with weight loss. Beer, which contains yeast, probably has the most yeast-forming components of any alcohol.''
At least in theory, that is. The N-S-G Doctor can report almost never craving sweets, and that his project for weight-loss (*snicker, snicker*) has not in the least been impeded. ;-) I've said it before, I'll say it again, Sweet, sweet metabolism from Hell...
(And surprise, surprise, this blog is NOT going to make a yeast joke. So there. I'm sure several of you lost a bet on that one.)
