Friday Cat Blogging

Da BoyzAt right, the cats uncharacteristically dozing together on the futon, itself an unremarkable fact except that Trouble (left), the older and surlier one, never sits on the futon, much less sleeps on it. (Too bad I wasn’t fast enough to snap them cleaning each other.) Like Mutt and Jeff, these two. As I write this, Trouble’s back on the futon, fast asleep with his head in his paws, while Jenny (right) ogles squirrels from the back window. And while Jenny is always the darling, the ever-affectionate one, it’s Trouble who always surprises me: he’s acting more and more now like he did twelve years ago than six months ago. Why? Damned if I know. I just do what I’m told. As a friend likes to remind me, "Dogs have masters, cats have servants."

Am also going to try adding a bit of music to the blog now and then, though only for a day or two at a time. Here’s today’s offering, from an old master. Enjoy.

I remember Jenny kept me up at night cuz he kept circling around the guest bed (her territory). Trouble, on the other hand, was very shy, and I didn't see him/her until the next day hidden away in another room.

BTW, I know you'll hate me for this, but I'll say it anyway: your taste in music is very, shall we say, vanilla? How 'bout some death metal or something? :-) I can recommend some material that's actually very sophisticated musically.

If Solomon Burke is vanilla, I can't even fathom what your idea of chocolate is. (Now Steve Winwood, hes vanilla.)

As for my taste in music: I realise I'm a bit of a fogey in this regard, but I don't care. Metal-- death, heavy, or aluminum-- makes me want to gouge out my eardrums with a rusty fork. (I keep one handy for just such occasions.)

It all sounds very feline to me. Some people think cats do inexplicable things just to mess with their humans' heads; my view is that cats simply do whatever they want to do, and their humans' views on whatever-that-is could not possibly be more irrelevant ...

Would kinda agree with you, Syl, though perhaps not so much in re my pair. Trouble, I know, likes to fuck with people's heads sometimes. Most committees don't deliberate as carefully as he does. Jenny, on the other hand, has no such 'tude-- and even less guile-- and seeks approval as much as any dog I've ever known. Go figure. *shrug*
