hey, some poor college in oxford still has a portrait of bill clinton which they had in the dining hall, it miraculously disappeared after the lewinsky scandal broke, wonder where that portrait's languishing...

Re: the Austen portrait, it reminds me of the most famous George Eliot portrait, which is flattering, to say the least.

Perhaps, j, they discovered the portrait had developed a tapioca stain?
