Last night, the House of Commons made Canada just the third country in the world (after Holland and Belgium) to
legalize same-sex marriage. Dollars to doughnuts, I think this genuinely was a civil rights issue, which I'm glad to see resolved, however tentatively: after all, gays and lesbians are entitled to condemn their lives to slogs of domestic misery just as much as the rest of the population,
